FAQS

  • The range is open to members 365 days a year, 8 am – 10 pm. That being said, we only have lights on a couple of ranges and they are used for club events. The actual “Stop Shooting”, time will be dusk or before it is pitch black. It gets real dark real fast out there! Likewise, DO NOT SHOOT, before 8 am.
  • Exceptions would be for large regional type competitions. Those are generally scheduled months ahead and would be indicated on our calendar.
  • Individual ranges can be closed for maintenance and mowing at any time.
  • We set monthly workdays March – November. They are generally on the 3rd Saturday of the month. Sometimes our event schedule requires moving them a week forward or back. Always check the Calendar before traveling! On workdays, ALL RANGES WILL BE CLOSED FROM 8 AM – NOON!

MEMBERSHIP COSTS

In addition to our annual membership fees listed below, you must maintain a membership in the National Rifle Association. If you are not currently a member you can click here to purchase your membership online.

Although it is not required for club membership, we highly recommend that you also maintain a membership in the Illinois State Rifle Association. They keep a close watch on what is happening in our state government and work on our behalf every day.

Our fee schedule lists the annual renewal fees as well as the new member categories and an option to pay for a replacement keycard if yours is lost or damaged. As you can see we added a “Spousal Membership”. Here is an explanation of what the difference is. A member may bring their family to the range with them every time they come to the range. The member is responsible for the actions of all people they bring. No one else can use that member’s keycard without the member being present. The Spousal Membership would allow either member to enter the club with their own keycard and bring other family members or guests with them. If only one member comes they are then responsible to make sure their guest abide by the rules. If they are both present they are both responsible to look after any guests. This new class was added to support the growing interest of women in shooting, hunting, and self-defense/concealed carry.

Renewals – ALL members, Due May 1st (month of May). This includes all New Members through “January & February”. If you forget, your key will be disabled. If you remember in the fall when you start getting ready to go hunting, the renewal will still be your normal fee. You will also have to wait a few days to a week, for us to get your key re-activated!

New Member – (each month). The fee is Pro-rated, beginning in June and, decreases each month. Beginning with the New Member – (March, April & May),  You will get a full year, + March and or April as a bonus.

It is currently taking 10 – 14 days. We are also at the mercy of the USPS.

We are accepting new members. The easiest way to apply for membership is to do it online.

  • A member can never allow someone else to use your keycard or credentials.
  • A member must always accompany family members or guests to the range.
  • The family members or guests must stay with the member. Not out exploring or using another range.
  • The member is responsible for his family members, and guests, for their conduct and safety.
  • Family members are considered as those living in the same household or a parent or child accompanying the member. It would also include occasional visits with siblings, aunts, uncles, etc.
  • Guests – This should be limited to, no more than 3 or 4 people. If the same guest accompanies you to the range for the 3rd time, we feel it is time for that person to purchase their own membership.
  • For groups larger than that, you will need to contact the President.
  • Which membership type do I need?
  • If you come to the range by yourself or bring your family with you when you attend, a Regular membership is all you need.
  • If your spouse belongs to the TCWC (our women’s group) and you only come to the range with her, she will need a Regular membership and you can come with her on non-meeting times.
  • If you both want individual access to the range at any time, then you will need the Spousal membership. It will include 2 gate keys, one for each of you with your name, and member number.
  • We are a Members Only Organization.
  • We do not have any Public, hourly, or daily range rentals.
  • Most of our scheduled events, as listed on our calendar, are Open to the Public.
  • Most classes usually allow public participation.
  • Our annual Open House is Open to the Public.

We do not furnish targets or target stands. You will need to furnish your own.
Bring a garbage bag(s). When you finish, pick up all of your trash (targets, ammo boxes, food containers/wrappers, etc.

Acceptable Targets

  • Paper
  • Cardboard
  • Clay shotgun targets
  • Some members bring their own steel reactive targets.
  • This list will be updated as this form grows

On the Pistol bays (Ranges 1 – 9), there are 4 plate racks for your use (these plate racks can be shot with .22LR and 9MM PCC rifle). Do not shoot these plates or any of our steel, with a magnum pistol cartridge or a centerfire rifle cartridge. The manufacturers recommend not shooting at these targets closer than 25 yds. Rifles, Shotguns are allowed on these ranges.

On the 100 yd and 200 yd rifle ranges, there is a double plate swinger target for your use. Make sure you do not shoot these targets with armor-piercing ammo. Rifles up to and including the .50 BMG may be fired on these ranges. You can shoot pistols and Shotguns from these ranges as well. Make sure to use appropriate targets.

Target Stands:

Homemade 2 X 4 wood stands, PVC pipe, steel, seem to work well.

TARGET HEIGHT! If you set your target directly in front of the berm, you can use a short target. If you place your stand closer to the firing line (All Ranges), you need to make sure your target is approximately 5 ft at the top of the cardboard. This is a safety issue.

Never set targets closer than the berm on the 200 yd rifle range. No partial distance targets!

  • Home/Office appliances
  • Tannerite
  • Freon Containers
  • Glass or anything else that shatters
  • Rocks/blocks from around the range
  • Styrofoam or other construction materials
  • Range Equipment – any standing posts, legs on plate racks, barrels, wood or other materials used for events (barricades, stands, etc)
